A review of Croydon’s community pharmacy services - your views matter

We would like you to tell us if your local pharmacy meets your health needs by taking part in our consultation.

How to complete this consultation

Before completing this consultation, please read the short draft executive summary and conclusion or the full pharmaceutical needs assessment draft report

These documents are located to the right side of this page.

What services do community pharmacies offer?

Pharmacies offer a range of services which include:

  • dispensing of medicines and appliances on prescription
  • sale of medicines to the public
  • providing advice to the public on medicines, coping with ill health or general health and wellbeing
  • receiving waste medicines for safe destruction

What is a pharmaceutical needs assessment?

We carry out a pharmaceutical needs assessment to identify any gaps in current services, or improvements that could be made to pharmacies in Croydon.

Take part in Croydon’s consultation

A public consultation is open from 31 August to 29 October 2022. We are asking your views and comments on the draft pharmaceutical needs assessment report, and if it accurately addresses issues that you consider are relevant to your local pharmacy services.

The consultation feedback will be reflected in the final report.

Why we need to undertake a pharmaceutical needs assessment?

The government requires all local authority Health and Wellbeing Boards to review pharmacy services in its area every three years.

Croydon’s next pharmaceutical needs assessment is due by the end of October 2022.

Who will use the pharmaceutical needs assessment?

It will help the NHS, Croydon Council, and the south west London Integrated Care Board to identify gaps in services or how community pharmacy services might be improved. It is also used to help make decisions about where new pharmacies are needed or a change of premises.

The draft report has been produced by looking at:

  • the demographics and health needs of the population
  • the current pharmacy network and its services
  • a survey to Croydon residents on their use and expectations of pharmacy services
  • a survey to Croydon pharmacy contractors
  • an assessment of NHS Pharmacy services commissioned in Croydon

If you have any questions about the pharmaceutical needs assessment, or if you require a paper copy of the consultation questionnaire to be sent to you, please contact the project team:
