We want your views on our CIL Draft Charging Schedule that will support growth and infrastructure provision in the borough

The Croydon CIL Draft Charging Schedule has been published and we are now inviting representations before we submit the draft charging schedule and supporting documents to an Examiner for an independent examination.

The council already operates a CIL but the rates were set back in 2013 and so they need to be reviewed.

The CIL Draft Charging Schedule is informed by a viability study which indicated that the council’s existing rates, are now outdated. In some cases these should be increased to reflect changes to land values, development viability and the need for additional infrastructure and community facilities across the borough, to support the growing population in Croydon.

The CIL Draft Charging Schedule sets out the types of development required to pay the proposed rates, and the revised amount (per square metre) that may be charged as part of the planning application process and on commencement of a development.

Refer to the FAQs for more information.

The consultation will be open for comment until Wednesday, 11 June 2025, 11:59pm.
