It is illegal for businesses to sell or supply single-use / disposable vapes.
The ban came into force on 1 June 2025 and now, if a business supplies a single-use vape they commit a criminal offence.
Each local authority's trading standards team is required to introduce a policy for how it will enforce against businesses who continue to sell or supply single-use vapes. The law also states that councils must consult on the policy before it is formally introduced.
Our policy proposes that we review each offence on a case by case basis and that we use a range of enforcement approaches, dependent on factors such as the seriousness and any past issues with the business. The policy does propose that we may take legal action if appropriate.
