We are constantly striving to make the council a great place to work. We acknowledge that getting everything right for our employees requires continuous work, so understanding why our staff leave the council is important to us.

The purpose of this exit survey is to try and identify the reasons why employees choose to leave the council and the information will be used wherever possible to:

  • Reduce employee turnover
  • Improve recruitment and induction practices
  • Improve learning and development opportunities
  • Highlight any underlying discrimination/problem areas.

Employees will be asked to express their views on various aspects of their employment including job satisfaction, working relationships, development opportunities as well as providing information on their reason(s) for leaving.

Data collected will be analysed to provide regular monitoring information on staff turnover across the council. Anonymised data will be fed back to departmental senior management teams on a regular basis.

  • CLOSED: This survey has concluded.

We are constantly striving to make the council a great place to work. We acknowledge that getting everything right for our employees requires continuous work, so understanding why you are leaving is important to us.

We would be grateful if you will take a few minutes to complete this questionnaire as openly and honestly as possible. The information you provide will give us feedback on how well we are performing as an employer.  It will also help us to identify where changes may be required.

Feedback and comments will be treated with the strictest confidence unless there is a legal or procedural obligation for feedback to be disclosed (for example a child protection issue).

Any additional comments/free text that are made by you may be fed back to corporate directors confidentially and in a generic format, whilst keeping the anonymity of individuals.  If you supply any contact details you will be asked to confirm if you are happy to being contacted for any further information.

The purpose of the questionnaire is to analyse and gain information regarding your experience of working for the council. Please note that you should not raise concerns via this questionnaire if you require a personal response to your situation.

    Data protection statement

We’ve asked for your information on this survey because it tells us more about the people (like you) who have been employed by Croydon Council. If we know more about you, we know more about the way our services are used and this helps us to make improved decisions about them. It also helps us to make sure we’re hearing from all our diverse communities.

There are times when we need to collect your contact information (so we can keep in touch). When we ask for this, we will be clear about why we’re collecting this information and how it will be used. When we analyse responses and report findings from our surveys, your personal details will not be identifiable. That’s the same for when we ask for demographic information (like your age, gender identity, ethnicity or disabilities). We’ll also make sure that you don’t have to answer any questions about you, if you don’t want to.

If after submitting your questionnaire you subsequently decide you do not wish to take part and opt out, please contact: maxine.benjamin@croydon.gov.uk within 30 days of the date of your submission to enable us to withdraw your details.

Please refer to the exit interview policy for further information.

Where a question is marked as optional no response needs to be given if preferred.

If you would like to have a personal exit interview with an HR representative, please contact: humanresources@croydon.gov.uk to arrange this.
